IPL 2024: Rain at Chennai gives 2023 flashback ahead of SRH vs KKR Final

Due to signs of rain in Chennai, there has been increased speculation around the highly-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final between KKR and SRH on May 26 facing a delay or a washout. Significant rain has caused the pitches at the venue for the final in the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium to get covered up, leading to both sides’ practice sessions for May 25 being called off. After defeating RR by an emphatic 36-runs in Qualifier 2 on May 24, SRH have sealed a chance to right their wrongs against their Qualifier 1 opponents in KKR.

The rain scenario at Chennai has taken a similar shape to that of the IPL 2023 Final, which saw the clash between GT and CSK at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad get moved from May 27 to the reserve date on May 28. A similar situation could take place this time around, as an extended stretch of rain might force the BCCI and the IPL management to shift the dates for the big final. Many fans have taken to their social media accounts to share glimpses of rain around Chennai, including that from the Chepauk stadium.

Weather in Chennai on Sunday

According to The Weather Channel, Chennai is predicted to have a weather range between 33–32 degrees Celsius during the time of the match on Sunday. It also shows some moderate chances of rain, ranging from 14 percent to 7 percent, which is indeed a promising figure for both the sides and the Indian cricket fans.

Irrespective of the rain threat, the anticipation for the Final of what has been a record-breaking and exciting IPL 2024 season has already reached sky-high.
