The questions have been posed to the Finance Minister and the Food and Public Distribution Minister. Gandhi has been active in asking questions during the 17th Lok Sabha and asked 41 questions in Parliament already so far since last July, in stark contrast from the 16th Lok Sabha when he did not even ask a single question in Parliament. Gandhi was also present in the standing committee meeting on defence on Friday after reportedly skipping 11 meetings of the panel earlier.
In a question listed for Monday, Gandhi has asked the Finance Minister about the details of revenue from central excise duty collected on petrol, high speed diesel oil and aviation turbine fuel for the last three years. He has also asked about the details of the estimated revenue gain to the Central Government on account of withdrawal of subsidy on domestic LPG cylinders for the current financial year and the details of crude oil imported by PSUs and the average imported crude oil price for the last three years. Gandhi has also enquired about the increase in central excise duty and cess on petrol and high speed diesel oil from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020.
In another question that Gandhi has posed for Tuesday, he has asked the Food and Public Distribution Minister about the details of the total number of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the details of allocation and lifting of additional foodgrains and pulses provisioned for NFSA beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). Gandhi also wants to know about the details of migrants not covered under the National Food Security Act or State PDS scheme, and the status of distribution of food grains and pulses to 8 crore migrant workers and their families under the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme. “Whether NGOs and welfare organisations were provided subsidised food grains under the PMGKAY,” Gandhi has also asked.
