Who is Aditya Alva? How is he related to Vivek Oberoi and Sandalwood Drug Case?

The ongoing investigation into the Sandalwood Drug Case has thrown up many names, including those of some celebrities and their relatives. One of them is Aditya Alva who is an accused in this high-profile drug case.

Aditya Alva is the son of former minister Jeevraj Alva and brother-in-law of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. As per police, he is the sixth accused named in the FIR registered at Cottonpet police station in the Sandalwood Drug Case.

Foreign return, businessman

Thirty-one-year-old Aditya Alva is completed his school education in Bengaluru and then moved to the University of San Francisco, and later studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.

He ran his private businesses and is part of ALV Projects Private Ltd, Deccan Timbers Private Ltd, and the Sea and Sun Hospitality Ltd. All these companies are registered with the Union Ministry of Commerce.

Aditya Alva became part of ALV projects in 2012. Other members of the project are his family members Nandini Alva and Priyanka Oberoi.

‘Posh Bengaluru house with dubious record’

The Alvas live in a posh villa called ‘House of life’ that is located on the edge of a lake, spread across 4 acres of lush property, with a 10,000 sq.ft house at it’s centre in North Bangalore.

Parts of the residence was earlier used to host high-profile parties on rent, weddings and photo shoots, besides corporate events.

According to the police, Aditya Alva’s ‘House of life’ was used for parties where drugs were consumed. These high-profile parties would be attended by actors, businessmen and many who’s who from Bangalore.

Absconding since Sept

Aditya Alva has been absconding since September 4 this year and is reported to have left Karnataka.

He has also moved court for quashing of FIR against his name. However, the court has not provided him any relief so far. The crime branch has issued a look out circular against his name and has formed teams to arrest him.
Sources said Aditya Alva knew Ragini and another accused Viren Khanna.

Viren and Ragini have been arrested while Aditya Alva is at large.

Raid at Vivek Oberoi’s house

The crime branch suspects that his family might know his whereabouts and hence raided the house of actor Vivek Oberoi in Mumbai on Thursday.

“Vivek Oberoi is his (Alva’s) relative and we got some information that Alva is there….So a court warrant was obtained and the Central Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai,” a police officer told PTI. He said police felt that the actor might be aware of his whereabouts and so the searches were carried out.

However, they did not divulge the outcome of the raid.

15 arrested so far

More than 15 people have been arrested in the Sandalwood Drug Case so far including Kannada film actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, rave party organiser Viren Khanna, realtor Rahul Thonse, and a few Nigerians.

Police launched a crackdown on the drug traffickers, peddlers and consumers after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people from Bengaluru two months ago with drug haul. According to sources, the trio told the NCB sleuths that they were supplying drugs to Kannada film actors and singers.

Meanwhile, Aditya Alva’s sister Priyanka was summoned by the Bangalore Police to appear before them on Friday.
