Watch: Phil Salt’s 100 m six against KKR teammate Andre Russell during ENG vs WI

Philip Salt slammed a 100-meter six against his KKR teammate Andre Russell during the Super 8 clash between West Indies and England at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on June 20, Thursday. During the 4th over of England’s chase, Russell bowled a slower-one as he came down the track. He made room for himself by backing away and swinging it back over the bowler’s head. It went high and long, so ,much so that it hit the rooftop of St. Lucia.

It was top-tier stuff from Salt, who banged it straight on the roof and the ball bounced back. Russell and Salt, who were playing together in IPL 2024 for KKR, were up against each other in the T20 World Cup 2024 clash. The KKR duo were match-winners for their teams in their title-winning campaign after a decade. The English openers Salt and captain Jos Buttler provided England a great start to the team in their chase of 181 runs.

Salt and Buttler stitched a 67-run opening stand as they stitched their 7th 50-plus partnership for England in T20Is. Salt provided a blistering start to the team as he took down the West Indies bowlers. He went onto notch-up his fifty from just 38 balls. After Buttler’s dismissal, Jonny Bairstow and Salt stitched a crucial fifty-plus stand. As Bairstow was being the aggressor, the pace of Salt’s innings had reduced. Hoever, he brought up a fifty in style with a boundary and followed it up with another six.

After putting to bat first, West Indies went onto score 180 runs in their 20-over quota. It was a collective batting effort from the team as Povman Powell’s 17-ball 36 and Sherfane Rutherford’s 15-ball 28 were crucial.
