INDIA bloc leaders Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday proposed Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge as the alliance’s Prime Ministerial candidate. However, Kharge has said that the focus should be on winning the 2024 general elections and then discussions on the PM face would follow.
When asked about the possibility of Kharge being the INDIA bloc’s PM face, BJP spokesperson Syed S Islam said that the party was “not at all concerned” with the Opposition alliance’s PM candidate.
“Whether it is Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi or Nitish Kumar, the BJP is not concerned,” the party spokesperson said. He further said that Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal had “sown a seed to break the Opposition alliance” by proposing Kharge’s name as the PM candidate.
