Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new Council of Ministers reflects continuity from the previous government, a few ministers’ portfolios have been changed.
Jyotiraditya Scindia is a key figure among the Union Ministers whose portfolio has been reallocated. Scindia, the former Civil Aviation Minister, has been given the charge of the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region.
Mansukh Mandaviya has been assigned the Ministry of Labour and Employment, along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. He held the portfolios of Health and Family Welfare, and Chemicals and Fertilisers in the previous Narendra Modi-led government.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who led the Jal Shakti Ministry in the last government, has been allocated the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism this time.
Kiren Rijiju is the new Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs. He previously held the portfolios of Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries in the previous government.
Pralhad Joshi, who previously served as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines in India, has now been assigned the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Giriraj Singh, the former Minister of Rural Development and Minister of Panchayati Raj, has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Textiles.

Meanwhile, several others, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, retained their portfolios from the previous ministry.
