The French Open 2024 has continued to delight and enthral the fans as the tournament enters Day 11. High quality action will be expected as several big names will be in action as they look to book spot in the semi-finals on the clay court in Paris.
In women’s singles, Elena Rybakina will begin the day that will be full of heavy-weight tennis clashes as she faces Jessica Paoloni. The second women’s quarter-final clash will be between World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva. The winners of the quarter-finals round will face each other in the semi-final clash.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles side, shocking news emerged with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic withdrawing from the Roland Garros mid-way through due to a knee injury. This meant his opponent for the quarter-final clash, two-time French Open runner-up Casper Ruud, received a walkover into the semifinals. It was not a straightforward path to the last eight for Zverev as he needed five sets to win against Tallon Griekspoor and Holger Rune in the last two rounds. The Italian Open winner would look to secure his fourth consecutive French Open semi-final berth as he has won each of his last 10 matches.
Meanwhile, Sabalenka will look to add a third Grand Slam title to her name but will face an unpredictable test against the 17-year-old Andreeva. The teenager will be competing in her first major quarter-final as she had a memorable campaign so far. She had defeated the former semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in the second round before she overcame Peyton Stearns and Varvara Gracheva in straight sets.
Sabalenka has not dropped a single set so far and will fancy her chances against Andreeva, whom she has beaten twice on the WTA tour.
