BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis hit out at the Uddhav Thackeray government and come out in support of actor Kangana Ranaut and said it would be better if the government focused on fighting coronavirus instead of the actor.

Addressing the media on Friday, Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra government feels the fight is not against coronavirus, but against Kangana Ranaut. I want to tell the government if you apply 50% of your strength in solving the coronavirus crisis, it will be better.”

Talking about BMC demolishing Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai over illegal constructions in the building, Fadnavis asked, “Why did you not break Dawood’s house but broke Kangana’s house?”

The Maharashtra government has meanwhile asked Mumbai Police to probe the drug consumption charges levelled against Kangana Ranaut by actor Adhyayan Suman in an old interview from 2016.

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale met Kangana Ranaut on Thursday and said she need not be afraid while to live in Mumbai. Athawale, a BJP ally, however, made it clear he does not agree with the remarks made by Kangana Ranaut.

The Shiv Sena-ruled BMC on Wednesday pulled down parts of the alleged illegal alterations at the Bandra bungalow of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. Midway through the demolition process Kangana Ranaut moved the Bombay High Court, which put a stay on the action.

However, a massive row broke out over the demolition as Kangana Ranaut equated Mumbai with Pakistan and her office to the Ram Mandir, saying BMC is razing her office like Mughal emperor Babar.

Kangana Ranaut, whose comment likening Mumbai to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) triggered a spat with the Shiv Sena, took another jibe at the NCP-Shiv Sena-Congress government in Maharashtra and said the ideology of the Shiv Sena had been compromised.
