The RJD has released the first list of its contestants for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election 2020. The party has denied ticket to two sitting MLAs who are accused of rape, and instead nominated the wives of the two MLAs.

Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2016.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal today released the first list of its contestants for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election 2020. This list was released for the seats going to the polls in the first phase in 16 districts of Bihar.

The RJD, led by former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, currently serving a jail term in the fodder scam case of 1990s, has denied ticket to two sitting MLAs, who are accused of rape. The party has instead nominated the wives of the two MLAs in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election.

Vibha Devi is the RJD nominee from Nawada assembly seat. Her husband Raj Ballabh Yadav is in jail on the charge of rape of a minor girl.

The other RJD candidate is Kiran Devi, who has been fielded from Sandesh seat, which is located in the Bhojpur district of Bihar. Her husband Arun Yadav is a rape accused and absconding for a year.

The RJD released first list after finalising its alliance with other Mahagathbandhan partners, the Congress and the Left parties. The RJD has refused to give in to the demands put forth by its alliance partner in the neighbouring state of Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) reportedly demanded 15 seats in Bihar but the RJD has not conceded its demand. The JMM has been fielding its candidates in the constituencies in the border areas.
