Anushka Sharma celebrates Virat Kohli’s ‘revenge catch’ to dismiss Daryl Mitchell

Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma was seen ecstatically celebrating his ‘revenge catch’ to dismiss Daryl Mitchell during RCB vs CSK clash in the Indian Premier League 2024. Notably, Kohli took hold on to a catch at mid-off to dismiss Mitchell in the third over of the second innings to give second blow to CSK inside the powerplay as they were left reeling at 19/2.

As a result, the star batter avenged his dismissal from the first innings as he was caught by Mitchell at long off after scoring 47 (29). Following Kohli’s catch, his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma was seen jumping with joy in the stands as the entire M.Chinnaswamy stadium stood up to celebrate the second success of the home side.

Earlier in the day, after being put in to bat first, RCB got off to a good start by their opening duo of Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis who added 31 runs in the first three overs. However, just when things were looking great for the hosts, a rain interruption broke their momentum.

When the play resumed, CSK spinners managed to get good purchase out of the surface as the ball began turning square. However, Kohli still managed to find crucial boundaries for his side using the newest weapon in his repertoire the ‘slog sweep’. His innings was brought to an end by Mitchell Santner as he holed out to long on. After losing his partner, Du Plessis shifted gears and brought up his half-century to up the ante in the middle overs. The RCB skipper was eventually dismissed for 54 (39) through a contentious run-out call by the third umpire in the 13th over.

With both openers back in the pavilion, Rajat Patidar (41 off 23) and Cameron Green (38* off 17) got involved in a crucial 71-run stand off just 28 balls to help improve the run rate in the middle overs. Dinesh Karthik (14 off 6) and Glenn Maxwell (16 off 5) also played crucial cameos as RCB finished their innings on 218/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, CSK were 26/2 after three overs with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (0 off 1) and Daryl Mitchell back in the pavilion. Notably, RCB need to win the match by 18 runs to qualify for the playoffs.
