BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai on Friday (February 14, 2025) criticised the ruling DMK government for failing to take steps to fill vacancies of doctors in government medical college hospitals.
In a social media post, Mr. Annamalai expressed shock over the death of a four-year-old boy from Tenkasi who was reportedly administered an injection by the hospital staff in the absence of a doctor at Tirunelveli Government Medical College and Hospital.
Mr. Annamalai claimed the number of deaths in government medical colleges have increased in the last four years since the DMK came to power. “Lack of adequate numbers of doctors in government hospitals was one of main reasons for such large-scale deaths. What has the Health Minister been doing for the past four years without appointing doctors? Why is there a delay in filling vacancies, and how many more children are we going to lose? Is Chief Minister M.K. Stalin aware of a series of deaths in government hospitals?” Mr. Annamalai asked.
“Instead of disbursing compensation to the family of the boy from the State government’s exchequer, why has the DMK announced it would provide compensation from its party funds? Is it to cover up the DMK government’s failure?” he further asked.
