4-1-27-3: Hardik Pandya makes tremendous comeback in T20 World Cup vs Ireland

India vice-captain Hardik Pandya made a stunning comeback to the Indian team on Wednesday, 5 June against Ireland. Pandya, playing for the first India game since his exit in the ODI World Cup 2023 picked up 3 wickets on his return from his full quota of 4 overs. Pandya was on the money from his very first over, exploiting the seaming conditions in New York. Bowling outside the powerplay, Hardik also troubled the batters with his sharp bouncers.

India had a terrific day out with the ball in New York, bowling out Ireland for just 96 runs. All India pacers – Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and of course, Hardik were among the wickets as India bowled out Ireland in just 16 overs at the Nassau County Stadium. Hardik was the pick among the bowlers alongside Bumrah, and picked up 3 wickets.

HARDIK’S WICKETS VS IRELAND

Hardik Pandya’s first wicket came just outside the powerplay in the 7th over of the match. Pandya bowled a lovely inswinger to Lorcan Tucker which sneaked through the batter’s defence to crash into his stumps.

The India vice-captain’s second wicket was against Curtis Campher in the 9th over. Pandya bowled an outswinger, that nipped away from the off stump, kissing the outside edge of the bat.

Pandya’s final wicket was against Mark Adair in the 11th over, where the lower-order batter skied a short ball to Shivam Dube, running in towards point from the outfield.

Pandya had figures of 3/13 at the end of the third over. He was whacked in his final over by Joshua Little and Gareth Delany and ended up registering figures of 4-1-27-3 on Wednesday.
