Corona vaccination appointment via WhatsApp? Here’s the truth – ET HealthWorld

Mumbai: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday warned citizens against falling prey to fake news surrounding coronavirus and the vaccination drive.

It shared the poster of an advertisement that claimed that people could book their vaccination slots via the social networking app WhatsApp. It also falsely claimed there was a phone number integrated with the Government of India’s CoWIN vaccine management system, and that slots for four persons could be booked at one time.

Besides, it also asked people to keep their name, age and Aadhaar Card handy and search hospitals using the pin code of the area.

“All Indian citizens over 45 are eligible. Book both 1st and 2nd dose,” it read.

The Health Ministry has debunked these claims calling the claim false. It is clarified again that one can register oneself for vaccination only via the CoWIN portal or the Aarogya Setu app.

Meanwhile, a total of 29,33,418 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours taking the total vaccination count of the country past 10.45 crores.

India has become the second worst-hit nation in the world once again with a total of 1,35,27,717 COVID-19 cases and 1,70,179 fatalities.
