BJP MLA Surendra Singh has confirmed that the accused in the Ballia shooting case, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, worked with the saffron party and also said the incident was “unfortunate”.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Surendra Singh said on Friday that the accused in the Ballia shooting incident, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, worked as a saffron party worker. MLA Surendra Singh also said the Ballia shooting incident, in which a person died, was unfortunate.
Speaking with India Today TV, Surendra Singh said, “Dhirendra Pratap Singh worked as a BJP worker. The firing incident is unfortunate. The sister, father, and family members of Dhirendra Pratap Singh were also injured in the incident.”
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader from Bairia and former MLA, Jai Prakash Anchal, met the family of the deceased, 46-year-old Jaiprakash, who was allegedly shot by Dhirendra Pratap Singh after a dispute over the allotment of ration shops on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader CB Mishra also met the family members of Jaiprakash, the victim in the Ballia shooting incident.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the suspension of the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), circle officer (CO) and all other policemen present at the spot in Durjanpur village in Ballia’s Reoti area, police told PTI.
According to the police sources, the circle officer has been suspended over the escape of Dhirendra Singh from police custody despite his arrest following the shooting.
A video clip of the Ballia shooting incident, released by news agency ANI, showed a group of people running about in a field in panic as shots are heard. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said that the role of the officers will be investigated and if they are found responsible criminal action will follow, PTI reported.
