HIGHLIGHTS

  • Chennai Super Kings lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday
  • For most part of the chase, CSK looked set to be able to get to the target, but eventually failed
  • Many CSK fans expressed disappointment at Jadhav coming in to bat before Bravo

After a fantastic win against the Kings XI Punjab in their last game, Chennai Super Kings crashed to their fourth defeat in IPL 2020 on Wednesday.

In the last match against KXIP, they had just come off a hat-trick of losses, and the way they dominated the game, chasing a target of 179 without losing any wickets, had given hope to their fans that the CSK were back to their winnings ways.

But on Wednesday against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they crashed to a 10-run defeat after looking comfortable in most of their chase.

A crucial decision that the CSK took on Wednesday was to send Kedar Jadhav ahead of other power-hitters like Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja.

Kedar Jadhav was brought in to bat when CSK needed 39 off 21 balls, and ended up scoring nothing in the first five balls that he faced, as the required rate climbed up to 15 an over.

With CSK eventually losing the match by 10-runs, Jadhav only managed to score 7 runs off 12 balls.

This led to criticism on social media on the decision to send Jadhav ahead of Bravo.

Even former India batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth questioned the tactics used by MS Dhoni’s team to send Kedar Jadhav bat ahead of Dwayne Bravo in the crucial chase.

“Omg can’t believe this! Where was #bravo? Unbelievable, said it earlier, CSK still need to finish! Well played KKR, brilliant bowling by russel and narine in the death! #CSKvsKKR #IPL2020,” he tweeted.
