Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a statement to the press on Sunday accusing the Opposition of engaging in a conspiracy over the Hathras case. “Those people who are not liking development, they want to incite a communal and caste riot,” the UP CM said.

While referring to the Opposition, Yogi Adityanath went on to add, “They will get an opportunity to bake their political breads in the garb of these riots that is why they ever indulge in new conspiracies. While being completely aware of these conspiracies, we have to expedite the process of development.”

A day after he recommended a CBI probe into the death of the girl in Hathras, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said, “It is possible to solve even the biggest of problems through the medium of communication. In ‘New Uttar Pradesh’, discussion is the only medium to solve problems.”

He went on to add in Hindi, “The police department must keep extreme sensitivity and activity when dealing with issues related to mothers, sisters or scheduled caste.”

On Sunday, the UP government’s three-member SIT recorded the statement of the 19-year-old Dalit girl’s father. Residents of Boolgarhi village in Hathras, the family accused the district administration and local police of cremating the girl’s body in the middle of the night against their consent.

Top state officials, including additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Awasthi and DGP HC Awasthi met the family on October 3 and assured them that their concerns will be addressed. The family is now demanding a probe into the girl’s death under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge.
