Hyderabad is all set to roll out a cultural welcome for over 140 Miss World contestants arriving for the 72nd edition of the global beauty pageant, which officially begins in Telangana on May 7. From Sufi and Qawwali music to a rich showcase of Telangana’s heritage, the city is preparing to make a memorable impression on the international stage.

Tourism Secretary Smita Sabharwal convened a review meeting at the Chowmahalla Palace on Tuesday, bringing together officials from Telangana Tourism, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and the police. The discussions focused on finalising arrangements and ensuring seamless coordination for the event.

The festivities will formally commence with an opening ceremony on May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor stadium. On May 13, the contestants will head on a heritage walk through Charminar and Laad Bazar. The day will culminate with a cultural evening and dinner at the Chowmahalla Palace.

The palace grounds will be transformed into a vibrant arena featuring dedicated zones for photo shoots, live music, and a specially curated 20-minute programme showcasing Telangana’s traditional art forms, music, and dance. Guests will also be treated to a dinner that blends the regal flavours of Nizam’s cuisine with local Telangana delicacies, said a release.

Smita Sabharwal underscored the significance of offering an unforgettable experience, not just for the contestants, but also for nearly 400 delegates, photographers, and members of the international media who are expected to accompany them.
