Much water has passed under the bridge since; not only the public embarrassment for Sir Philip over his decision to sell BHS, part of his Arcadia retail empire, to Dominic Chappell, only for it to collapse a year later, but also the swift march of fashion and technology that has left the other Arcadia businesses – Top Shop, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge – well off the pace, not only in terms of their retail operations but also their attractiveness to shoppers.
