Actress Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday expressed grief after a 19-year-old Dalit woman succumbed to her injuries nearly two weeks after she was allegedly gang-raped by four men in Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh.
Demanding justice for the victim, Ranaut went on to ask whether there was any other solution available other than shooting rapists who are growing in numbers in the country each year.
“Shoot these rapists publicly, what is the solution to these gang rapes that are growing in numbers every year?” Ranaut questioned.

The 19-year-old Dalit woman had been gang-raped on September 14, following which she was initially admitted in Aligarh’s JN Medical College hospital. Later, when her condition became critical, she was shifted to the ICU of a Delhi hospital.
All the four men accused of the gang-rape have been arrested by Hathras police and they are currently in police custody. The name of the four accused, as identified by the woman, are Sandip, Ramu, Lavkush and Ravi.
Police had earlier said that incident occurred after the woman had gone to the fields along with her mother. When family members searched the girl after she went missing, they found her in critical condition.
The accused men also physically assaulted her and there was a serious cut on her tongue, indicating that an attempt was made to strangulate her, according to police.
All of the accused have been booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC. Later they were charged with gang-rape under Section 376D, according to Hathras ASP Prakash Kumar. He had said that the case will be tried by a fast-track court.
The family members of the woman have accused the police of negligence in the matter. But soon after the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chandpa police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district was transferred.
Hathras SP Vikrant Vir had said that Chandpa SHO DK Verma had been transferred for his failure to act promptly.
