A 19-year-old killed his parents at their home in Tampa, Florida and shot an officer during a gunfight that was caught on the injured deputy’s bodycam. Authorities in the US have released the bodycam video of the gunfight with the teenager, who was also shot dead.
Christos Alexander Themelis shot his 51-year-old father, Christos Byron Themelis, inside the home and then his 48-year-old mother Rebecca Ann Themelis on the front lawn in front of officers shortly after 11 pm on Sunday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said, according to the New York Post.
Officers reached the house after receiving a “frantic” call on the emergency number 911 from Rebecca Ann Themelis who told the operator that her son had shot her husband.
When officers reached the house, they asked the woman to walk towards them, the footage posted on Facebook shows. But the teenager blasted her in the back of the head when she was in the lawn. He then opened fire on the officers.
“Stop reaching for your waistband,” a deputy could be heard yelling at the teen just before he started shooting.
In the crossfire, deputy Shane McGough, 26, was shot in the leg, authorities said. McGough was rushed to a local hospital after being administered life-saving measures. His condition is stable.

“I’m hit,” McGough said as he suffered a gunshot wound, according to the bodycam footage.
Themelis was also shot during the gunfight with four other deputies. Badly wounded, he crawled back into the house and barricaded himself inside.
The sheriff’s SWAT team charged into the house shortly after and found Themelis and his father both dead from gunshot wounds, Chronister said, reported the New York Post.
Themelis is believed to have died of the injuries he suffered in the shoot-out.
