An impoverished woman in Uttar Pradesh, struggling with deep financial crisis, decided to end the life of her 6-year-old daughter to put an end to the misery. She killed her daughter and now has been arrested for the murder.
The woman has two other sons and was worried about the future of her daughter, how would the family pay for her wedding in future, reported The Times of India. The incident took place in Bheski village under Handia police station area.
The woman has been identified as Usha Devi. Police have said the family has been reeling under a severe economic crisis and was struggling to make ends meet.
With her husband having lost his job as a labourer after an accident, it fell upon Usha Devi to run the family of five members. Police have also said that the woman herself is mentally unstable.
With the menial labour that she managed, Usha Devi found it getting increasingly difficult to arrange food for the entire family.
