Two villagers from a Left-wing affected region in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada were murdered by Naxalites on Wednesday evening, said the police.
A senior police officer said that Baman Kashyap (29) and Anis Ram Poyam (38), both residents of Todma village under Barsoor Police Station limits, were found dead in a deep jungle nearly 25 kilometres from the police station. Prima facie they were strangled to death, said the police.
A team of security personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. A pamphlet of the Aaamdai Area Committee of the East Bastar division of the Maoists was purportedly found at the spot. A copy of the said pamphlet that surfaced online has named Kashyap, one of the two victims who worked as a guest school teacher, as a police informer.

The pamphlet noted that Kashyap had allegedly provided information to Dantewada police about the movement of Maoists before the Thulthuli encounter of October 2024, the pamphlet alleged. As many as 38 Naxalites were killed in the encounter with security personnel in the forested area between Thulthuli and Nendur villages along the Dantewada-Narayanpur border.
With the latest killings, Maoists have killed seven persons in separate incidents so far this year in Bastar division, which comprises seven districts, including Dantewada.
