Sushant Singh Rajput’s college friend Varun Behel: Can’t believe he was bipolar

Sushant Singh Rajput’s college friend Varun Behel, in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, said that he cannot believe that a sorted person like him was bipolar. He also reminisced old times and shared how they used to have fun at college, bunk classes and go on sudden road trips. Varun Behel is an Environment Data Scientist in America.

Recently, Sushant Singh Rajput’s therapist Susan Walker stated that he was bipolar and was suffering from depression. When asked about the therapist’s statement, Varun said, “I can’t believe that a person who was sorted and lovable could be bipolar.”

Varun further added that he wanted to know why Sushant’s case is not being shifted to CBI. “The police needs to clear the air so that young kids who want to become actors won’t feel afraid of this industry,” he added.

Varun and Sushant met each other on the first day of college in 2004. “Sushant used to dance alone in his room with loud music. I was his roommate in college. We became close friends and even went on several road trips like Manali. Once, Sushant, his sister, his jijaji and myself went on a trip together,” added Varun.

Varun further revealed that he met Sushant again during the shooting of Kai Po Che!. “We had fun during college. We were connected through messages. As we got busy with our own lives, we lost touch. I was supposed to meet him in New York. Due to his busy schedule, I couldn’t meet him then,” Varun revealed.

Varun knew that Sushant was very close to his family. “He always wanted to fulfil his dreams. He didn’t say he wanted to be a star. Since Sushant loved dancing, he joined Shiamak’s [Davar] classes. He then had an incredible opportunity. Either he should complete engineering or he could go to Australia. Sushant chose the latter,” he explained.

When asked if he had watched Chhichhore, Varun said, “That film was amazing. I saw the film and remember saying, ‘he is not acting like he was in his college days.’ I wanted to meet him for sure but never imagined that I will never get to meet him anymore. Sushant once said that if he became a huge star, he would share his college stories on reality shows.”

Varun Behel wants to know what really triggered Sushant Singh Rajput to take this drastic step. Sushant died on the morning of June 14 after hanging himself in his bedroom.
