The BMC says that the CBI officers, investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, should take a call if they want to get tested for Covid-19 or not.
BMC says it is upto the CBI officers if they want to get tested for coronavirus.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput death case will have to decide for themselves whether they need to get tested for Covid-19 or not. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which has already given a blanket exemption to the CBI team, doesn’t want to have any say in this matter.
The concern arose after Bandra DCP Abhishek Trimukhe tested positive for Covid-19 along with his family members. DCP Trimukhe had recently met the CBI team that had arrived from Delhi. He was handling the late actor’s case and had handed over the case details over to the CBI. Him testing positive has raised concerns whether it will have any impact in the progress of the case. The entire CBI team had a meeting with DCP Trimukhe after their arrival in Mumbai.
SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT DEATH CASE: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
To a query by India Today TV on whether the CBI officials will be asked to get themselves tested for Covid-19, a senior BMC official replied that it is up to the officials to take a call. “We don’t want to have anything to do with this. It is really up to them to take a call whether they feel there is a need to get themselves tested or not.” he said.
When asked about contact tracing in this case, the senior official added that the CBI team had been given a blanket exemption in the city. When further pressed that contact tracing was essential at a time when DCP Trimukhe had tested positive, the BMC official refused to answer. Recently, Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari, who was in Mumbai to investigate the case, was quarantined by BMC as he allegedly didn’t follow the rule book. The move of the BMC was questioned at many circles and drew sharp criticism as well.
For more than a week now, the CBI team has been grilling various prime witnesses in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case at the DRDO guest house in Mumbai. They have also questioned the prime accused in the case, Rhea Chakraborty, and her brother, Showik Chakraborty. The CBI team has been meeting the Mumbai Police officials and the Enforcement Directorate officials as well in addition to meeting doctors at Cooper Hospital. The CBI Special Investigation Team is also visiting various other parts of the city in relation with the case.
