The objective of the Tamil Nadu government is not just mere economic development but inclusive development, with social justice and women empowerment at its core; that is why the State stands at the top among other States in several indicators, said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Friday (March 28, 2025).
Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) South India Annual Convention 2025, organised with the theme, ‘Infra South: Crafting Livable Environment in India Cities’, Mr. Stalin said the government’s efforts have transformed cities such as Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Hosur, Madurai, Salem, and Thoothukudi as important economic hubs, fostering equitable growth across the State.
He said Tamil Nadu is a leader in India’s electronics exports, with 12.62 billion USD in the last 11 months. The State accounts for 37% of India’s total electronics exports.
The Chief Minister listed out some of the important announcements made for the industries sector in Budget 2025-26.
According to him, the Tamil Nadu government and the CII have been working together for several years and playing a crucial role in the development of the State. Tamil Nadu plays an important role in the development of India, he said, adding that State stands as the second largest economy in the country with a growth rate of 8% for the past three years. The State government is making consistent efforts to achieve the objective of 1 trillion USD economy by 2030.
He said the State government is preparing the third master plan for Chennai, as well as master plans for 136 other urban areas, to improve their quality of life. Minister for Industries T.R.B. Raaja, senior government officials, and industrialists were among the participants.
