Police hand over 225 mobile phones to owners in Kalaburagi

The police who recovered 225 lost and stolen mobile phones worth around ₹46.54 lakh handed them over to their rightful owners here on Thursday.

Addressing presspersons, Police Commissioner Sharnappa S. Dhage said that based on complaints against missing and lost mobile phones received through Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and e-Lost portal on the police application, the Cyber Economic and Narcotics Crime (CEN Crime) Police Station and the police registered cases and successfully tracked and recovered the phones.

He said that special teams were formed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanika Sikriwal and the Cyber Crime, Economic Offences and Narcotics (CEN) Police officials successfully tracked and recovered 225 mobile phones from across the district.

The mobile phones were either stolen during travelling, misplaced during journey or snatched by unidentified offenders.

Dr. Dhage said that the police have recovered 1,548 missing and stolen mobile phones since March 2023.

In total, the Kalaburagi Police Commissionerate has recovered stolen or lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹3 crore, Dr. Dhage said.
