In the Lokniti-CSDS pre-poll survey conducted ahead of the Bihar Assembly election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as more popular leader in the state compared to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The survey found the popularity of PM Modi-led central government is far higher than the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. The gap between the popularity of the Modi government and the Nitish Kumar government of Bihar stood at nine per cent.
While around 52 per cent of voters surveyed said they were “satisfied” with Nitish Kumar performance, 61 per cent of voters in Bihar said they were satisfied with the work done by the Modi government.
That PM Modi-led government has got 61 per cent satisfaction rating despite Covid-19 lockdown-generated migrant crisis and continued downturn in the economy during the pandemic shows that PM Modi’s political charisma still works with the voters in Bihar. The survey shows his bond with the voters of the state is unbroken.
However, there is another feature lying in details. In post-assembly polls survey in 2015, 72 per cent voters were “satisfied” with the Modi government of the Centre. That percentage increased to 76 per cent in post-Lok Sabha polls survey. This time, in the pre-assembly polls survey, the share has declined to 61 per cent.
The question asked for the Lokniti-CSDS survey was: Are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the performance of the Narendra Modi-led BJP/NDA government in the Centre?
