A 31-year-old man was caught in possession of 320 grams of MDMA, a potent psychedelic substance, by the Nampally police and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB).
Police said that the accused, Shaik Amer, was targeting the LGBTQIA+ community to sell the contraband.
As many as 37 consumers were identified through his contacts, said the police.
The accused, also known as Waseem Khan and Habeeb, was once a drug addict himself, began sourcing MDMA from Mumbai suppliers Mohammed Salim Abdul Hamid Shaikh alias Salim, and Rayees Riyaz Shaikh alias Aayan.
“These suppliers, who remain absconding, procured drugs from Jimmy and Jerry, Nigerian nationals operating in Delhi. Amer would purchase the drug at ₹3,000 per gram and resell it in Hyderabad for ₹8,000 per gram. A week back, Amer had travelled to Mumbai and purchased 320 grams of MDMA for ₹6 lakh,” said the police.
He was apprehended by police while transporting the drugs to Nampally with the intention of selling them.
