An Odisha native who sustained severe burns in a fire following a cooking gas cylinder leak recently at Puthiyangadi in Kannur, Kerala, has died while undergoing treatment at Kannur Government Medical College Hospital (MCH). The deceased has been identified as Subhash Behra (50).
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. last Friday when the gas cylinder caught fire as the stove was lit for cooking in a rented quarters near the Puthiyangadi harbour.
Four Odisha natives were injured in the incident. The others – Shiva (32) , Nigam (40) and Jithu (28) – continue to undergo treatment at Kannur MCH.
The police said the fire broke out suddenly, engulfing the small quarters and causing extensive burns to all four occupants.
