English actor Nicholas Galitzine, recently compared with One Direction’s Harry Styles, has clarified that his character, Hayes Campbell, is distinct. Speaking to People, Galitzine emphasised Hayes’ unique struggles, wants, and musical style. His latest film ‘The Idea of You’ released on Prime Video on May 2.
Nicholas said, “I like to distance myself from that comparison because I think Hayes is his own character and has his own struggles and wants and tastes, even in who he is as a musician.”
The ‘Red White and Royal Blue’ actor continued, “We took tons of different references. I think the boy band as a whole was an amalgam of a lot of different artists and groups. I’d love people to come to watch the movie with an open mind and embrace Hayes and August Moon, and maybe become fans of August Moon individually as well. I mean, there’s some really, really catchy songs in the movie.”
Nicholas revealed a diverse range of references inspired his role and asked audiences to watch the movie with an open mind. Galitzine had earlier disclosed that the Backstreet Boys and K-pop band BTS inspired the boy band portrayal and choreography in the film.
The film, adapted from Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel ‘The Idea Of You’, features Galitzine as a 24-year-old pop star from boy band August Moon, who falls for Anne Hathaway’s character, Solene, a 40-year-old divorcee and single mother.
