Mumbai Indians stormed into their 2nd IPL 2020 win after beating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 48 runs.

Riding on the back of power-packed performances by captain Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar, Mumbai Indians registered a thumping 48-run win over Kings XI Punjab to register their 2nd win of the IPL 2020 season.
Punjab crumbled down in front of Mumbai Indians daunting target of 192-run. MI bowlers made sure that Punjab are not even once in the hunt for the chase. This is Punjab’s 2nd consecutive loss after Rajasthan Royals heartbreak.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were off to a flying start as they ended up scoring 37 runs in the first 4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah came in to bowl the first over and ended up taking the wicket of in-form Mayank Agarwal (25). Krunal Pandya started in the 6th over and replaced another Karnataka batsman for a not.
The pressure started mounting up as Rahul Chahar got the big fish KL Rahul (17) in the 9th over. Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell joined to score 41 runs together before James Pattinson came back to dismiss the West Indian.
Wickets kept on falling as Maxwell (11), Jimmy Neesham (7), and Sarfaraz Khan (7) departed in the span of 15 balls.
A win was a mere formality thereafter for Mumbai Indians.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians were not to a start they would have wanted to. Shedlon Cottrell drew the first blood and rattled Quinton de Kock’s stump in on the 5th ball of the match. Suryakumar Yadav walked in next and was looking promising before a Mohammad Shami direct throw sent him packing.
Star from the Rajasthan Royals match Ishan Kishan walked in to to join his captain Rohit Sharma and played a handy 28-run knock and built up a 62-run partnership to stabilise Mumbai Indians innings. Krishnappa Gowtham gave Kings XI Punjab the the third breakthrough in the 14th over and another star from the previous match Kieron Pollard replaced the pocket-sized dynamite Kishan.
It was then that Rohit Sharma accelerated his innings and completed his 38th IPL fifty. He smashed 70 off 45 before getting out on a Mohammad Shami delivery. Hardik Pandya (unbeaten 30 off 11) walked in next and partnered for 67 runs off just 23 balls with Pollard (unbeaten 47 off 20 to take Mumbai’s total to an impressive 191.
Off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham went for as many as 25 runs (4 sixes and a single) in the last over.
