A massive cleaning drive covering approximately 95 kilometres was carried out on Friday in the North Corporation limits, resulting in the clearance of 599 tonnes of waste.
The drive included removal of dry and wet solid waste, discarded household items such as sofas, glass, and clothes, construction debris, cleaning of footpaths, medians, park, stormwater and general drains, open sites, and pothole-filling and repair works.
Apart from the collected items, the waste cleared during the drive included 275 tonnes of construction debris, 210 tonnes of dry waste, and 28 tonnes of discarded household items.
Around 4,200 personnel, including pourakarmikas, marshals, door-to-door waste collection teams, among others participated in the drive.
