Sunrisers Hyderabad openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were in imperious hitting form as they took the Kings XI Punjab bowlers to the cleaners in their Indian Premier League 2020 match in Dubai on Thursday. Warner and Bairstow brought up their 5th 100-run stand in the IPL in what was just their 16th innings together in the T20 tournament.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow added 160 runs together in just 15 overs as Kings XI Punjab were clueless on the field. Notably, KXIP leaked 341 runs without picking up a wicket since Sunday as Chennai Super Kings had gunned down a 179-run target against them without losing a wicket. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis stitched a 181-run opening stand.

Notably, only David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan have registered more 100-run stands in IPL than the combination of Warner and Bairstow. The SRH captain and Dhawan had put on 6 hundred-plus stands in 48 innings for the same side.
With their 5th, Bairstow and Warner also entered the top 5 on the list of pairs with most hundred-plus stands. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers hold the record for most hundred-plus stands.

However, Jonny Bairstow missed out on his 2nd hundred in the IPL as he fell 3 short of the 3-figure score. The England opener was trapped in front by young Kings XI Punjab spinner Ravi Bishnoi who led his team’s fightback after they were pummeled in the first 15 overs. Bairstow had walked back after hitting 6 sixes and 7 boundaries in an exhibition of clean-hitting.
Bairstow was handed an early reprive by KXIP captain KL Rahul who missed a tough catching opportunity as ealry as the 5th over when the opener was just on 19.
On the other hand, Warner fell for 52 off 40 balls before Bairstow fell as Bishnoi picked up both the SRH openers in the same over.
