Kings XI Punjab opener Mayank Agarwal, who was distraught over his failure to finish the match for his team against Delhi Capitals, acknowledged that it was a terrible feeling not to close the game.
Mayank Agarwal played a blinder of an innings of 89 to Kings XI Punjab in the hunt of 158 but failed to close the game when his team needed only 1 run from the last three balls.
“I think we had a tough day,” Mayank Agarwal was quoted as saying by KXIP TV.

“There are a lot of positives to take out. The way we came back was fantastic, the way we bowled with the new ball was terrific. It really hurts to not close off the game from the situation we were in… feels terrible. This is just the first game… we can get things rolling again, let’s see how we will go in the coming games. I think to play a game like that first up was fantastic. Everyone was up for it, guys really put in the effort.

“Definitely, we should have finished the game when we needed one run,” Mayank added.
Mayank also lauded Marcus Stoinis, saying the DC all-rounder “batted extremely well” as he played a knock of 53 runs off 21 balls and guided the side to a respectable total after losing a couple of quick wickets.
Both teams scored 157 runs which dragged the match into the Super Over. Punjab managed to score just two runs as Kagiso Rabada dismissed KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran in the second and third deliveries respectively. Delhi Capitals then chased the target of three runs easily.
“Stoinis batted extremely well and even if we made a little mistake, he took us apart. So credit to him and he had a great game and he did really did well for them at the death,” Mayank said during the post-match press conference.
