Heavy rain in Jaipur paralyses city, waterlogging outside Secretariat

Heavy rains have been lashing Jaipur city in Rajasthan since Thursday, leading to major traffic snarls and severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. Heavy rainfall will continue in Jaipur for today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department has said Jaipur will witness heavy rainfall today and light rainfall for the next 48 hours i.e., two days. As per the IMD forecast, Jaipur will witness ‘generally cloudy sky with heavy rain’ on Friday.

Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are also likely to occur at few places in Jaipur, Sikar, Ajmer, Tonk districts, and adjoining areas during the next two hours.

The IMD has also predicted fairly widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Rajasthan during the next two days. The intensity will decrease thereafter, it said.

It has been raining in Jaipur for the past six to seven hours. The showers have inundated low-lying areas in Jaipur and threw traffic out of gear. Waterlogging has also been reported outside Jaipur Secretariat.
