Hathras Case Live Updates: UP govt files fresh affidavit in SC, says three-layer security provided to victim’s family

The CBI team probing the Hathras case has re-summoned the victim’s father and two brothers for questioning.

The Central Bureau of Investigation team probing the Hathras case on Wednesday re-summoned the victim’s father and two brothers for questioning.

A CBI team on Tuesday quizzed the family members of the 19-year-old Dalit victim in the alleged gangrape and murder case in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh and examined the crime scene, officials said. The team, which reached the crime scene in Bulgarhi village on Tuesday morning after registering the FIR two days back, took the brother of the victim to record his statement, they said. The victim had died a fortnight after an alleged brutal assault, including an alleged gangrape, by four men of the village on September 14.

12 pm: Three members of the victim’s family have left the house for questioning by the CBI today.

11:45 am: UP government has filed another affidavit in the Supreme Court. The UP government has told SC that a three-layer security cover has been given to the victim’s family. CCTV has also been installed in the village to keep a tight vigil. It also mentions about the police deployment in the village. A team of female police has also been deployed in the village for female members of the victim’s family.

11:25 am: The ED team has reached Mathura Jail to question four men who have suspected PFI links. Questioning to start soon.

11:16 am: CBI will demand custody of all accused in the case through court. CBI Team will call the victim’s family and eyewitnesses for questioning in the case today. The CBI team is camping in the Directorate of Agriculture office in Hathras and witnesses will be called for questing there. The CBI has sought CDR of the victim’s family from UP Police for alleged communication with accused Sandeep.
