Force Gurkha-based pickup spied during testing

Just a few months back, Force Motors launched the 5-door version along with an updated 3-door of the Gurkha SUV. The 5-door Gurkha retails for a price of Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), while the 3-door Gurkha costs Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Prior to this launch, there were a nth number of spy shots of these much-awaited off-road focused SUVs. It seems the tradition is likely to continue, with spy shots of the Force Gurkha pickup emerging on various online forums and websites. The ones obtained by us show the Gurkha pickup in camouflage.

The Gurkha-based pickup on test appeared to have a large testing device in the cargo bed.

As per the spy shots, there seems to be a large testing device or payload in the cargo bed. It could just easily be a way to test the payload capacity on the Gurkha pickup. As one would expect, the rear section remains open and there are two bars on each end of the cargo bed to possibly accommodate a cloth-based soft top. The version on test here seems to be the dual-cabin or 4-door variant of the pickup. It also gets the signature snorkel seen on the Gurkha. Although there are no images of the interior, it seems to bear similarity to the already existing SUV.

The 5-door and 3-door Gurkha are powered by a Mercedes-sourced diesel engine.

This particular version also gets alloy wheels, possibly suggesting that this could be available for private as well as commercial use. There’s also a chance of seeing a single cab version of the Gurkha pickup as well. From the front, the Gurkha pickup design language is pretty much the same as the 5-door or 3-door version. In all likelihood, it will be powered by the same 2.6-litre Mercedes-derived diesel motor. As of now, there’s no definite launch timeline or production details, but we expect the Gurkha pickup to arrive some time next year.
