Ex-Jharkhand Chief Minister’s wife claims assault by Puja committee members

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi’s wife and daughter-in-law were allegedly assaulted by members of the Amrit Nagar Puja Committee in Hazaribagh on Thursday evening.

According to an FIR filed by Preeti Kisku, daughter-in-law of Marandi, she was traveling from Giridih to Ranchi with her mother-in-law around 7:15 pm when the incident occurred. Committee members reportedly assaulted their driver, who sustained serious injuries, after Kisku intervened and protested their actions.

Police personnel were reportedly present at the scene during the incident. Preeti Kisku has urged authorities to take strict action against the members of the Amrit Nagar Puja Committee. The Hazaribagh police have registered the complaint and launched an investigation.

Babulal Marandi was the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand, serving from November 2000 to March 2003, after the state’s formation. He is also the founder of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), which he later merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The incident has drawn attention, highlighting concerns over law and order and the safety of people. Authorities are reportedly examining CCTV footage and statements from witnesses to ascertain the circumstances leading to the assault.
