Drawing of cables through KSEB posts: HC directive to inform it about steps for ensuring safety

The Kerala High Court has directed the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to file an affidavit indicating the steps taken to ensure that cables drawn through the posts of the KSEB by cable TV operators are complying with the safety regulations issued in this regard.

Justice Gopinath P. also directed the KSEB to state in the affidavit why action had not been taken so far to remove cables that are drawn without complying with the safety regulations. The KSEB was also directed to place on record the guidelines issued by the board, including safety regulations for drawing cables through electric posts.

The court passed the order recently when a petition by the Cable Operators Association came up for hearing.The petitioner had challenged the move to dismantle the cables of their TV network for non-payment of the differential pole rental.
