The Indian Premier League (IPL) transcends cricket, embodying a spectacle of emotions, passion, and occasional controversy. In a recent DC vs RR group clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson’s controversial dismissal sparked widespread debate. Amidst the drama, Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal’s animated reaction to Samson’s dismissal quickly became a social media sensation.
The incident happened in the 16th over of RR’s chase when skipper Sanju Samson slapped Mukesh Kumar down the ground, and Shai Hope took a brilliant catch to dismiss him. However, the replay showed Hope was close to the cushions but didn’t touch them. Samson initially began to walk off but returned after viewing the replays on the big screen. DC chairperson Jindal passionately celebrated and was spotted shouting ‘out hai’ as Samson was arguing with the umpires over his wicket. Television cameras panned to capture tense expressions as Parth, unable to contain his excitement, rose from his seat and fervently exclaimed that Samson was out.
However, what followed after the game was equally remarkable. Despite the on-field intensity, the spirit of sportsmanship prevailed off the field. Parth Jindal, along with Rajasthan Royals’ captain, Sanju Samson, and owner Manoj Badale, shared a cordial moment at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after the match. In a display of camaraderie and respect for the game, Parth Jindal extended his congratulations to Sanju Samson for his selection in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
“Our Chairman and Co-owner, Parth Jindal, caught up with Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson & owner Manoj Badale, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium last night, after what was an exceptional contest of cricket. Parth also extended his congratulations to the RR skipper on being selected for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” DC shared the video on its social media handle.
Samson had to depart for 86 runs from just 46 balls as the RR captain missed his fourth IPL hundred by just 4 runs. The replays were not able to prove beyond doubt that Hope’s catch was clean. It was a big dent in RR’s chase as Samson’s wicket opened the gates for DC to make a comeback.
