The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday issued fresh guidelines for international passengers arriving in India. The new guidelines by the government will come in force from August 8, 12:01 am.

The guidelines come in the wake of government ramping up measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in India and also easing restrictions in the country in a gradual manner. The government has agreed upon an air travel bubble to allow international movement of people between India and countries such as the US, the UK, Germany, France and is also in talks with several other countries.

According to the guidelines, all travellers should submit a self-declaration form on newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before their scheduled travel to India.

International passengers need to give an undertaking on the portal that they would undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days. This includes seven days of paid institutional quarantine at their own expense, followed by seven days of home isolation with self-monitoring of health, the Health Ministry said.

However, home quarantine may be permitted for all 14 days only for compelling cases of distress such as pregnancy, death in family, serious illness and parents with children of the age 10 years or below. If travellers want to seek such exemption, they should apply to the online portal (newdelhiairport.in) at least 72 hours before boarding. The decision taken by the government as communicated on the online portal will be final.

Travelers may also seek exemption from institutional quarantine by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report on their arrival, which should be conducted within 96 hours prior to undertaking their journey and uploaded on the portal.

The Health Ministry also put out guidelines for passengers- before boarding their flight, during travel and on arrival. You can read them below:
