Search and rescue operations are underway to rescue locals missing since the boat capsized in Gandak river in Bihar’s Khagaria district on Tuesday.

A boat ferrying passengers capsized in the Gandak river in Bihar’s Khagaria on Tuesday. Reports place several of the passengers missing. The incident happened at the 5-kilometre riverbank under the limits of Muffassil police station.

Local authorities have launched a search operation to locate the missing passengers. Steamers and boats have been engaged in the search and rescue operation in the presence of the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police.

Inputs indicate that there were more than 24 people onboard the capsized vessel.
