The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has scheduled a series of consultations at five venues covering the eight zones to solicit suggestions from the public and institutions on the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill 2024. It will be held between February 10 and 12.
The meetings aim to gather suggestions from the public and various RWAs on the proposed formation of the Greater Bengaluru Authority. Speaker U.T. Khader on August 22, 2024, constituted a 14-member joint legislature committee, led by city Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad, to examine the Bill. This public consultation has been scheduled on the directions of the House panel. The committee will submit its report to the legislature after the public consultation meetings.
The Bill proposes to split the BBMP into multiple corporations to decentralise the administration. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will coordinate among the proposed multiple corporations.
