GMCH students get int’l honour for innovative device – ET HealthWorld

Chandigarh: GMCH-32 students Shivani Arjun, Hargunbir Singh and Meera Matta, under the guidance of Dr Nishit Sawal, DM, Neurology, AIIMS, consultant neurologist have been awarded the best poster in its category award for an innovative device made for a neurological disorder, for which there is currently no treatment available. The award was presented at the prestigious World Congress on Parkinson’s Disease and related disorders held in Prague, Czech Republic recently.

Their paper titled, “A novel treatment for Apraxia of Eyelid Opening using a Pulsating Headband – A single-centre pilot study,” focussed on a novel treatment for apraxia of eyelid opening, a rare disorder in which patients are unable to open their eyes. The research was greatly appreciated.

They received a blue ribbon indicating Best Poster of the conference in its category among the 600 other representations from around the globe.
