Gandhinagar: Former Gujarat chief minister Shankersinh Vaghela announced that he would take out a rally from Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad to Rajghat in Delhi from Saturday in support of the agitating farmers. Vaghela slammed the Union government for demonising the farmers and said he would travel to Rajghat along with a hundred volunteers and hold an indefinite fast. His decision, which comes in the wake of his ouster from the Nationalist Congress Party, is being viewed as part of his efforts to revive his relevance in state politics. Once a BJP heavyweight, Vaghela jettisoned the Congress and joined the NCP for a short while as the president of the state unit of the party. Following his replacement as president by Jayant Patel Boskey, Vaghela tendered his resignation.
