New Delhi: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to form a four-member committee to look into the three farm laws, although it was unhappy over the choice of members and the size of the panel.
“We had also in our submission before the Supreme Court demanded the formation of a committee and are glad that the court has agreed,” Dinesh Kulkarni, organising secretary of BKS, told ET on Tuesday. “But looking at the committee, it lacks expertise and representation from different parts of the country.”
The members of the panel are agricultural economist Ashok Gulati, BKU president Bhupinder Singh Maan, policy expert Pramod Joshi and Shetkari Sanghatana president Anil Ghanwat.
The BKS leader said there is no expert from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research on the committee, something that was suggested by the government. The council is the apex body for coordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture.
