Bajaj Auto Q1 Results: Profit rises 11% YoY to Rs 1,173 crore, beats estimates

NEW DELHI: Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported an 11 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in standalone net profit at Rs 1,173 crore for the June quarter compared with Rs 1,061 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Revenues from operations rose 8 per cent YoY to Rs 8,005 crore for the June quarter compared with Rs 7,386 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Both the top and the bottom line beat ET NOW poll estimates of Rs 1,069 crore and Rs 7,652 crore, respectively.

Ebitda for the quarter jumped 15 per cent YoY to Rs 1,328 crore from Rs 1,153 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Ebitda margin expanded by 100 basis points in June 2022 quarter to 16.6 per cent against 15.6 per cent in the year-ago quarter, the two-wheeler maker said in a press release.

Ebitda grew despite supply constraints, cost headwinds and weak macro-economic context. Judicious price increases, better foreign exchange realisation and a favourable mix offset the material cost inflation and enabled margin improvement,

said.

The company said sales for the quarter were impacted by the inadequate availability of semiconductors, although the situation improved in the latter part as new supply sources were developed, it said.

Overall, volumes for the auto maker were down 7 per cent for the quarter to 9,33,646 units against 10,06,014 units in the year-ago quarter. While total domestic volumes, including two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, were down 1 per cent YoY, exports were down 10 per cent YoY for the quarter.

The company said its exports during the quarter were led by ASEAN and LATAM markets with overall market share continuing to expand despite challenging macros in a few markets.

Bajaj Auto clocked the highest ever sale of sports motorcycles in LATAM markets led by Dominar and Pulsar, the company said.
