Adani’s acquisition of Holcim businesses to be one of the largest deals in India

Adani Group’s acquisition of Holcim’s businesses in the country — and — will be one of the biggest deals involving Indian companies, according to data from Bloomberg.

The biggest acquisition of an Indian company has been Walmart’s acquisition of Flipkart for $16 billion in 2018. The purchase of Essar Oil by Russia’s Rosneft to the tune of nearly $12.9 billion in 2017 also ranks among the top acquisitions involving an asset in the country.

Before that, Tata Steel’s acquisition of Corus in 2007 at $12.78 billion remained unbeaten as the biggest outbound deal by an Indian company. The Vodafone-Idea merger in 2017 and Bharti Airtel’s buyout of Zain Telecom’s African operations in 2010 were among the other large deals, according to Bloomberg data.
