Actor Vicky Kaushal fasted with his wife, actor Katrina Kaif, on their first Karwa Chauth, an Indian festival where the wife fasts for her husband’s long life after marriage. He had no trouble fasting because, being an actor, he is accustomed to dietary restrictions. However, Katrina became restless after 8:30 pm. In a recent interview, Vicky revisited the day and affectionately referred to Katrina as the “Google Queen” for searching on Google the time of moonrise while fasting on Karwa Chauth.
“I am okay with keeping a fast. As actors, we go through diet restrictions and all that, so being an actor helps. But she is a Google queen. She asked Google when she’ll be able to see the moon,” Vicky narrated during an interview with Film Companion.
He continued, “Google said 8:30 pm. I told her the moon won’t listen to Google; it will come when it wants to. Google can’t predict the movement of clouds. There was a delay, and she was like, ‘It hasn’t come.’ I said it’s not like I am calling it. It will come when it wants to. She was completely fine till the time that Google said, 8:30 pm; after that, she was like, ‘Now I am feeling hungry’.”
When reminded about how it all started with Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) fasting for Simran (Kajol) in the 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Vicky joked, “Shah Rukh sir ne na… (Shah Rukh sir did…)”, hinting at how the scene set romantic expectations wrong.
Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Katrina called Vicky fasting for her “the sweetest thing ever”.
“But, the sweetest thing was that, of course, Vicky was also fasting. Yes, he also fasted. I’m sure he wouldn’t have [let me do it alone], and he didn’t even… it’s not like I asked him to do it all. I didn’t say anything. He did it himself, so that was sweet,” said Katrina.
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif got married in December 2021. Their wedding was an intimate affair in Rajasthan.
Rumors of Katrina’s pregnancy have been circulating for some time now. Recently, Vicky addressed the rumors during a promotional event for his upcoming film Bad Newz. He said, “Abhi ke liye aap Bad Newz enjoy kar lo, jo hum la rahe hain. Jab uska time aayega, we won’t be shying away from giving that news (For now, please enjoy Bad Newz. When the time is right, we won’t shy away from announcing the pregnancy news).”
Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz will release in theaters on July 19.
