A poor batting performance yet again resulted in Rajasthan Royals’ 3rd loss in succession as they got bowled out for 136 while chasing 193 against the defending champions in Abu Dhabi.

Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith looked a worried man after his team went down by a big margin against Mumbai Indians in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Tuesday.

A poor batting performance yet again resulted in Rajasthan’s third loss in succession as they got bowled out for 136 while chasing 193 against the defending champions in Abu Dhabi.

Smith pointed out that his team needs good starts from the batsmen which is where they have been lacking so far.

“I think losing wickets early doesn’t help, we haven’t been able to get off to a good start in the last three games. Outside of Jos and Archer at the end, we have a bit of work to do on our batting.

“I don’t think we need to panic too much, it is just about implementing our plans and playing some good cricket for longer.

“We haven’t been able to do that in the last three games and we have to turn it around quickly. Hopefully get a bit of momentum,” Smith said at the post-match presentation.

Jos Buttler waged a lone battle for RR with 70 off 44 balls while Jofra Archer entertained in the final stages of the game with 24 off 11 but the rest all failed to score more than 15 runs with 3 of the top five getting out in single digits.

RR have slipped to 7th on the points table with 2 wins from 5 games while Mumbai Indians dethroned Delhi Capitals from the top spot with their third win in succession.

RR will next face Delhi Capitals on October 9 in Sharjah while MI have a 5-day break before they lock horns with Shreyas Iyer’s side on October 11 in Abu Dhabi.
